In recent conversations with other artists, I realized that all my collage works, whether directly or indirectly, relate to feminism. Upon reflection, I believe this unconscious approach is far from neutral: the representation of women in the flood of images we receive daily is constructed by privileged white men and is therefore biased. The example of women’s magazines is particularly striking: all women are depicted in the same way, retouched, and absolutely none of them smile. Naturalness is not allowed for women. Without realizing it, and this is even more striking, I am trying to help them rediscover a truly complex and unretouched identity.
